cbs is a client/server system for allowing non-root processes to bind to local ports below port 1024. The cbs daemon runs as root, and allows specific users or groups to make requests to bind to specific ports. Clients of the cbs daemon use the cbs client libraries to make these binding requests. The cbs client library provides its own bind function which provides the same interface as the bind system call.
